Supporting Spiritual Awakening with Holistic Healing and Nature
Many people awakening spiritually feel drawn to new healing tools and experiences — often without knowing why.
When my 2020 layer of awakening began to unfold, I was in a deeply challenging and dark place in my life. Everything felt as if it was unravelling. This is actually very common during spiritual awakening — it can often arrive alongside periods of intense upheaval such as grief, job loss, the breakdown of relationships, or struggles with mental and physical health. For some, it follows burnout, depression, or an identity crisis. For others, it comes through illness, emotional collapse, or simply a profound sense that “something has to change.”
What I love about Spirit is that awakening doesn’t just happen when life feels light and easy. There’s so much messaging in spirituality about keeping your vibration high, focusing on positive thinking, and manifesting the life of your dreams — and while the Law of Attraction and those teachings hold some pearls of wisdom, they only show part of the picture.
Through my own experience and years of research, I’ve come to understand that it’s often in our darkest moments that we draw closest to Spirit. When the outer structures of our lives seem to fall apart, when the material world feels like it’s disintegrating and we’re left raw and uncertain — that’s when the hand of the Divine reaches for us most clearly. It’s in those moments of surrender and humility that awakening truly begins to take root.
Before light language activated in me, I felt guided towards a range of holistic healing modalities that helped me find my way through this darkness and reconnect with my soul. Below, I share some of the most powerful practices that supported and deepened my own awakening — and that may help you on your journey too.
Sound Healing for Spiritual Awakening
Sound is one of the most powerful tools for activating spiritual awareness and opening the energy body. From crystal bowls and gongs to tuning forks, chanting, singing, and music medicine, vibration carries intention, shifts energy, and can help us access states of consciousness that are often inaccessible in daily life.
When I receive sound healing, I notice subtle shifts in my body and energy — sometimes deep somatic releases, sometimes visions, sometimes a sense of being “lifted” out of my usual mental patterns. Light language, when spoken or sung, is itself a form of sound healing — an intuitive, non-linear vocal expression that carries energetic, channelled frequencies rather than literal meaning. It’s a gift that I use in sessions to support people who are new to it, helping them access shifts in consciousness, release energetic blockages, and connect more deeply to their own intuition and Spirit. Its tones bypass the mind and move directly through the energy body, awakening, recalibrating, and expanding awareness.
We are vibration. Everything around us is vibration. Sound interacts with our subtle energy in a way that can be deeply transformative, especially when we enter sessions with openness and intention. Even a simple hum or chant, when held with mindful awareness, can start to dissolve blocks, ease tension, and connect us more fully with our inner guidance.
What I find particularly beautiful about sound healing is how it allows the presence of Spirit to be felt directly. You don’t need to intellectualise or “understand” it — you simply receive. It can spark spontaneous insights, emotional release, and a felt sense of connection to something greater. For many, it is in these experiences that the first stirrings of awakening are recognised and embraced.
If you are exploring sound healing for your own spiritual awakening:
Approach it with curiosity and openness rather than expectation.
Notice the sensations in your body, the emotions that arise, and any images or visions that come.
Allow yourself to be receptive, trusting that the sound is carrying what you need at this moment.
In my experience, sound healing can be a gateway — both to activating your own light language and to deepening your connection to Spirit. Combined with other holistic practices, it lays a foundation for awakening that honours the body, mind, and energy field together.
Awakening Through Reiki Energy Healing
Before I began channelling light language, I started feeling a strong guidance from Spirit towards Reiki. At that time, I was navigating a period of deep turmoil and recovery — emotionally, mentally, and energetically — and Reiki felt like a lifeline. Even before I formally attuned, the intuitive pull to receive Reiki was clear: it was a support for my mental and emotional health, helping me process and integrate experiences that felt overwhelming or heavy.
Receiving Reiki can be so deeply soothing and relaxing, especially when you’re feeling anxious, overthinking, or overwhelmed. In the same way that happens with sound healing, for me, a Reiki session opens a space for Spirit to communicate directly. Often, it highlights pinch points in my life or shows me subtle guidance about what needs attention, helping me find a way forward while feeling held and comforted.
After I began channelling light language, I completed my Reiki attunements. Receiving Reiki became a profound way to ground and balance my energy, while also supporting others in their healing. It has been a huge help on my path — both attuning so I can self-heal, and receiving sessions from other practitioners. In my experience, Reiki opens channels in the subtle energy body, allowing energy to flow more freely and creating space for both emotional and spiritual growth.
Levels of Reiki Attunement
Reiki One: Introduces the physical healing symbol and opens your system to channel Reiki energy for yourself and others. This level is excellent for self-healing and nurturing those close to you.
Reiki Two: Adds distance and mental/emotional healing symbols, allowing you to send energy across time and space. After this attunement, you can also begin practising professionally.
Reiki Master: Brings additional symbols and the ability to attune others, expanding your capacity to guide healing in a more advanced way.
If you set an intention during Reiki sessions to support spiritual awakening or activate light language, the practice can be especially potent. For me, Reiki became not only a tool for healing but also a bridge between my own energetic field and the broader, more expansive frequencies I was beginning to access through light language.
Acupuncture To Clear Your Channel
In Chinese Medicine, they call them meridians; in yoga, they call them nadis. Acupuncture can help to clear blocks in your nadis or channel and is also beneficial for health.
I was guided to get acupuncture, so I followed the guidance and got sessions for a while. I was also taking some Chinese herbs. I had a few “experiences” during acupuncture and would recommend it – it’s super relaxing. And no, it doesn’t (and shouldn’t) hurt. Though occasionally the placing of the needles on places like your scalp can feel odd.
Breathwork To Awaken Spiritual Channels
Breathwork is powerful. Dynamic breathwork and kundalini breathwork are particularly potent. They often give me a clear and direct channel to spirit and very strong somatic releases.
When worked with intention, breathwork can answer challenges you need clarity on, elevate your energy, induce visions, facilitate timeline jumps, release stagnant energy, and blocked emotions. It is an amazing tool for your toolbox and you should try it.
Receiving Light Language With The Intention To Support Spiritual Awakening
Another way to support awakening is to book a session with a light language practitioner and set the intention for the healing.
Exposing Yourself To Healings
One of the ways in which my awakening started was by receiving healings from others. During my first experience receiving light language, I had zero expectations. I hadn’t ever heard of light language and I hadn’t looked it up online. I attended a womb healing ceremony that wove together womb healing, a cacao ceremony, Reiki, sound healing, journaling, and of course, light language. The womb healing ceremony was in person in January or February 2020. It was the first time I had received energy healing, Reiki, or light language, but I did have previous experience and had experienced visions and other weird unexplainable things with sound healing and yoga.
I had a profound experience the first time I received light language. I received from two women. I soon after travelled to Bali and went to a light language healing there. I had another profound experience, and when the world locked down for Covid not long after, I started doing lots of light language healings online with these practitioners. A few months later, I started channelling light language myself through my voice, body, and hands.
Getting Out In Nature
Nature is the best medicine, including when it comes to activating light language and grounding energies if you’re going through an awakening. Get out and appreciate her beauty. Find gratitude. Do a ceremony. Honour the land.
